747-400 vs. ERJ
Arrival Time: 9:45
Wright Time: .2
As you can see in the pictures, the wingtip of the 747 went through the rudder and part of the vertical stabilizer on the ERJ. Then the forces involved took the entire tail section off. I don’t know if there was any damage to the left engine and/or wing on the ERJ. If not, I’d be willing to bet that it’s not a hull loss. The 747 seems to only be in need of a new wingtip, but I’m thinking it will probably have to go through a spar inspection as well.
These pictures were received via email this morning and the author didn’t include any additional information. The ‘what happened’ of the story pretty much tells itself through the shots. The “how it happened” is what I’d be interested in hearing now. Anyone who has the scoop on it is encouraged to post below in the comments.

Join me as I sit down with private pilot Patrick McCall as he tells us about both his and another pilot’s experience late last month with an F-16 over Arizona. Both pilots were transitioning the Gladden MOA at the time.
