Some of the many email comments coming in about these video podcasts…

“Capt.
Aerial video is to cool, and much enjoyed!”

“Dude, The RC video is cool. I like when it’s flying down the street with houses in sight, provides some great perspective. Props to your wife…”

“Okay, now I’m nauseous from flipping over and over in that little plane. I’m serious; I have serious vertigo right now. Really cool podcast though and your wife looked HOT!”

“…what a wild woman!”

“DUDE, That rocked… The Barbie! My entire office loved it!!!!!!!!!”

“ROFLMAO!! Shall I start calling you “Ken?”

“Awesome. Really enjoy these.
You should try doing a mock up of the redbull air races…”

“Captain…………..OUT-FREEKEN-STANDING……………..I”m jealous not to be out playin, and can hardly wait to be in the pits!”

“…now you need a forward shot with the rear view superimposed, or like a split screen thing- that would be cool… and then when your wife does a cool stunt cut back to you saying haha nice move honey!!!”

“…I ordered Valley Lodge’s CD. I really like their stuff.”

Here’s the first FLYING video podcast. It’s live in the feed as well, at twice this resolution! Not subscribed in iTunes? You can subscribe by clicking on the iTunes icon in the upper left hand corner of the site.

Flip Video Camera from Wal-MartI purchased a cheap video camera from Walmart for the aerial stuff because I needed something that was somewhat ‘disposable’ seeing that these things crash and also I needed something that was solid state with no moving parts.

The hardest part was not the set up but the aspect ratios. My Sony video camera has selectable aspect ratios and I have it set to 16:9 for the iPhone and iTouch. The Walmart Camera is fixed at 4:3 but what would you expect from a $149 dollar video camera? Still, it functioned well under undoubtedly a lot of stress so from that standpoint I’m okay with it. Interestingly though, once rendered for YouTube the video got borders all of a sudden where the Walmart camera footage took over. But as far as I know those borders do not exist on the iTouch and iPhone (I don’t have either as lately I seem to be putting my resources into this podcast… but I do have a 5G Video iPod). Anyway, I’m still working on it, but it’s just one of those little things that once you think you’ve got it solved it comes back to bite you.

As far as the flying is concerned, I hope you like it, and DEFINITELY DEFINITELY DEFINITELY more to come! Actually my plan is to take this to the limits of both technology available to us civilians as well as $$$ constraints- I want to have full emersive remote controlled flying technology in my video podcasts.

More on that later though. :D
