Oh yeah… My name’s Capt’n Chris. Thanks for coming and it’s a pleasure to meet you. I’ve been obsessed with aviation my entire life and I’m currently an Airline Captain in my present job. Here on PlaneMadness.Com you’ll get my rants and raves about all things aviation related (and some not) and everything else in between. In the mean time we’ll enjoy a journey somewhere cool (when we get there plz let me know…) and hopefully I can make you laugh once in a while along the way!

Now, for some explanations…

What is a Podcast?

Wikipedia Definition: A Podcast is a digital media file, or a related collection of such files, which is distributed over the Internet using Syndication Feeds (Web Syndication) for playback on portable media players and personal computers.

What is a Syndication Feed?

Subscribe in Any Feed ReaderWikipedia Definition: A Web Feed is a data format used for providing users (that’s you) with frequently updated content. Content distributors syndicate a Web Feed (that’s me), thereby allowing users to subscribe to it. Making a collection of Web Feeds accessible in one spot is known as Feed Aggregation, which is performed by a Feed Reader, which we’ll get to in a moment. A Web Feed is also sometimes referred to as a Syndicated Feed. You can look at the PlaneMadness.Com Syndication Feed here, or you can just click on the orange Feed Button.

What is Web Syndication?

Wikipedia Definition: Web Syndication is a general definition for a form of Syndication in which a section of a website is made available for other sites to use (often that section contains audio files- Podcasts). This could be simply by licensing the content so that other people can use it; however, in general, Web Syndication refers to making Web Feeds available from a site in order to provide other people with a summary of the website’s recently added content (for example, the latest news or blog posts) that they read with a Feed Reader or Aggregator on their home pc, mobile device, etc, without ever having to go to that website itself; Thereby allowing them (that’s you again) to follow multiple websites simultaneously on their Feed Reader without having to go each and every website (although I highly suggest it). ITunes is a Feed Reader also, but it’s just for collecting and managing Podcasts.

What is a Feed Reader?

Wikipedia Definition: In computing, a Feed Aggregator, also known as a Feed Reader or simply as an Aggregator, is client software or a Web application which aggregates Syndicated Web content such as news headlines, blogs, podcasts, and vlogs (Video Podcasts) in a single location for easy viewing.
